Gabriel Olatunji 'Legend': How to live ready for opportunities

Some years ago, I heard the story of a pastor from United States of America who came to Nigeria to preach at a ministers' conference. After his ministration, he decided to sponsor most of the pastors to his country but the condition was that they must have their international passports ready. Ninety nine percent of the pastors at the conference didn’t have an international passport at the time and that was how they lost the opportunity of travelling to their dream country.

Opportunities come to us in disguise every day but we must have been consciously living ready to maximize them. What are the goals you want to achieve in 2014? Most of them are achievable if you consciously decide to live ready. If one of your goals is to become a millionaire this year but you still make few thousands, then part of living ready for opportunities is saving a sum of money regularly so that when a business opportunity shows up that can make you a million naira over a limited period of time with just #250 000, you will maximize it and not lose such opportunity.

I have friends who come to share brilliant ideas with me and I ask them what they have already to commit to the idea themselves. The response is usually that they don’t have anything and that makes me wonder if we are truly serious about what we want to achieve in life. The difference between the guy who started after you and seems to be making more progress than you are making is the fact that; although he started late, he was preparing for the day a BIGTIME opportunity will show up and when that BIGTIME opportunity did, he maximized it. Some of us should have been proud owners of real estates and landed properties already but because we were not living ready for opportunities; we were not preparing for days when someone seems broke and decided to sell a land worth #750 000 for #200 000 and before we know it, opportunity passes us by.

Now, this isn’t about money only but I used money as an example because most of us can relate more to that. Some people will have the opportunity of studying abroad only if they are prepared by taking a TOEFL exam. Some people will get the opportunity of getting a job that will pay in six digits monthly if they live ready by getting a masters degree and taking a lot of short courses on their field. Some people's opportunity will show up while they are volunteering for someone else’s project.  You must be doing something per time that is preparing you towards your life objectives. Your opportunities will always show up but it will be wise of you to live ready for them so they can be well maximized!
