#PrincessTalks: This is how to keep your New Year resolutions

I had this little conversation with brother and his friends and it was all about the New Year resolutions and how long you can keep them. Some were like 30mins, an hour or even a month - then why make a resolution you won't even bother to keep?

In theory, New Year resolutions are a fantastic idea, after all what better way to start the New Year than with a fresh look on life, your work and your relationship with others. This has turned out as an annual ritual to some people and to the remaining few it is a huge joke and some go to the extent of gambling on who keeps their resolutions the longest. Most times people tend to lose interest in their resolutions, not because they can't keep it but because their dreams are way above their reach.

Most resolutions involve inspiration but no preparation; you have to be adequately prepared to list out your new year resolutions and also ways to achieve it. You can try out with something simple like

  • Dropping all the bad habits you picked up the previous years such as excessive spending, smoking, excessive drinking and stuff.

  • Changing your health outlook by being more mindful of what you are eating; taking your life as your priority and not the doctor's work table; try working out in order to keep fit and be smart

  • Embracing generosity; helping people; trying to be nicer than your previous year; smiling more than frowning

  • Open to changes and accommodating people.

Lofty dreams, building castles in the sky, are all good but doesn't constitute a great New Year resolution, keep it simple, something you can easily work on without it seeming like you are dragging a heavy load of iron round your neck, and always remember to keep that list at the back of your mind.
