I’m pretty! And so what? It is proof that your wisdom pipe is blocked -Gabriel Olatunji 'Legend'

If I or anyone else have to tell you that you are beautiful before you believe you are; it is a proof that your wisdom pipe is blocked and your self esteem needs adjustment.

If I strike the wrong chord in you with this piece, I am unapologetic about it. It is high time someone sat you down and lashed you with these words. You have been pampered too much with words, you have been tolerated when you should be told ‘that is crap’. You cannot continue to need me or someone else to endorse your looks or what you do before you believe that you are not the worst person in the world.

I find it annoying when I see young people check themselves out over and over again. I can still let this slide because some people are born perfectionists and they usually want to make sure nothing is short of perfection in their looks but I can’t stand the man who needs my approval when it comes to the way he looks or what to do before believing. Your life is your life; your body is designed for only you and you are unique in your own way, even though I know you still find that hard to believe – it’s still unbelievable to you because the low self esteem that is still blocking your wisdom pipe has not yet given way. No matter how ‘not-so-fine’ a person can be, it does not determine his or her worth in life; there are many pretty girls I dare not think of marrying. Have you not seen men who sleep with the prettiest girls but end up marrying women not as pretty as the ones they sleep with for fun? It is because as much as looks can make a woman attractive (sexually), it does not guarantee a sustainable friendship – you are only good for sex if all you have is your ‘fine’ looks.

What defines you is more than your body! It is your competence in your field – can you compete favorably with the best in your league and win even if the person looks better than you? Can you do a better job than the next person even if the person is Miss World (as long as it’s not a beauty contest)? Can you or are you living a life of sound character and worthy of emulation? These are basic values that keep the world attracted to you.

If you are beautiful and stupid and you have the privilege of meeting the President he will most likely sleep with you and offer you money rather than give you a job where you need to serve people – because he knows that you only look good; you are deficient of wisdom. Wisdom is not cheap and it is not scarce; if you desire it, you can get it by consciously embracing values like;

Excellence – doing your work in an outstanding way; in a way the world will ask for your help and not for your 'cookies'.

Responsibility – if you cannot take responsibility for people other than yourself, you are still a child.

Giving – the world is in dare need of people who have something to give; I’m not talking money. If you have something to give your world you are one of the most beautiful creatures ever. What do you have to give?

Compassion – the secret of every great man I know is rooted in compassion; love for people. The day you develop the capacity to love people and make life better for  them in your own field is the day you find true beauty. Look through history and name anyone whom you term as great – compassion is usually at the heart of what they did.

One other one I will love to add is Knowledge – A man that finds it has found beauty because the world will always have ignorant men and that makes someone the world cannot do without when it comes to solving their ignorant problem. This is what true beauty should be all about and not your looks. It is not bad to look good, it is an added advantage if your brain looks good as well.
