Some years ago I started a blog, www.gabrielz360.com and our focus was Motivation and Entertainment. We published articles that motivated people using entertainment celebrities as subject matters and we also did a bit of entertainment news. After two years, the site expired and I never renewed it – I stayed without writing for months, if not years.
In September 2012, I was inspired to register a new blog that will revolve around me and hence the birth of OLATUNJISPEAKS.com but I didn’t know exactly what the blog was suppose to be doing and I was tired of doing what everyone else was doing. Every successful blog at the time was into entertainment and as much as a part of me loved entertainment, I knew it was not my first love. Inspiration is what I had always wanted to do even when I did entertainment. My goal then was to use entertainment as a tool to inspire people – everything still came down to inspiration.
After a conversation with my inner self I decided to obey a spiritual force and focus www.OLATUNJISPEAKS.com on INSPIRATION only; it was a tough decision to make because nobody else was doing inspiration on a daily basis and on a large scale except on some personal level. I wanted to build an online site that gave people a dose of inspiration daily – a site you will visit in the morning first thing when you wake up and what you read or hear from the site will inspire you to achieve great things that day – that was simply the idea God gave me.
I started out towards the end of the first quarter by writing #MondayInspiration as a Facebook Note and the response and comments of people inspired me after a few weeks to launch the site and upload all the #MondayInspiration I had written there; and that was how www.OLATUNJISPEAKS.com (Africa’s number one Inspirational site), with a mission to INSPIRE you to achieve GREATNESS, was birthed. The decision to go against the crowd, break away from the norm, fulfill my purpose and obey a spiritual voice has positioned us as a leader in this field – we are still growing though.
Why did I share this story?
My friend also runs one of the fastest growing entertainment blog in Nigeria and in the last few weeks he had an encounter and also decided to change base from entertainment to success and inspiration. As he was telling me, I felt proud that I did not follow the crowd and as a result I have in one way or the other inspire other people to live differently.
This is what I and my friend have learnt and we will want you to learn also:
- Stop doing what everyone else is doing – find your first love and marry ‘her’
- Doing the norm only makes you achieve normal results but breaking away from the normal positions you as an extra-ordinary person.
- Go where there is no path and leave a trail thereby becoming a leader in that field.
- You will never be great living the way people want you to but the way your maker wants you to.
- Money is good but the fulfillment you get from doing purpose is incomparable.
- When you die, heaven will not ask you how much money you made but how much impact you made.
- Don’t die a photocopy – there is an original version of you on your inside; locate it and BE it!
