Gabriel Olatunji 'Legend'
Nine months ago, a woman gave birth to twins even though she wasn’t rich, she saw the twins as a gift from God and she believed that whatever it is that they will eat will be provided for by God. Shortly after this, there was a shocking discovery on one of the babies, it was baby Kehinde. Taiwo was and still is hale and hearty but the doctors declared that Kenny (a short form for Kehinde) will not live more than one year because he has a hole in his heart. The only way he would survive it is if a surgery of some sort is carried out; the cost of this surgery is penned down at Two Million,One Hundred Thousand Naira only (#2, 100 ,000). It is already nine months and #BabyKenny has just four months to live; if the baby does not get the surgery before April he will have to bid the world goodbye.
When I heard this story some days ago, several questions ran through my mind and I will love you to help answer them;
Who did a nine month old baby offend to have such a fate at this innocent stage of his life?
When did our country (you and I) degenerate so low that we can no longer help our fellow man?
When will the Nigerian government create a health insurance scheme that will take care of issues like this?
When will you and I rise up to contribute our own widow’s mite (little) in ensuring #BabyKenny lives?
Today (January 5th, 2014) is my birthday and I probably want many things as gifts but there’s nothing I want more than for that baby to get the needed surgery and live to fulfill potential. Who knows what that baby could become tomorrow; maybe Nigeria’s President; maybe a Governor; maybe the best Neurosurgeon; maybe the best footballer from Africa; who knows? But this is where you and I come in!
We are not waiting on the government to do this; we can make it happen for this baby. So far, #400, 000 has been raised for this baby through the help of notable people.
How can we help? If 200 people decide to give #10 000 each, we would have raised 2 million naira for the baby. If 400 people decide to give #5 000 each, we would have raised #2 000 000 for this baby and if 600 people decide to give #2 500 each we would have also raised the money.
I didn’t write to inspire you today but to challenge you and give you an opportunity to taste greatness – greatness is not affluence or wealth but the ability to touch or save someone’s life even when you are not acknowledged. Jesus remains a great man even when he was scorned to death by the same people he was dying for. Kindly help this baby live! Give your own, let me give my own, tell someone else to give their own and let us all give our own – this is the essence of life – GIVING!

What else should I do on my birthday if not for an act of kindness – when I die, people will not remember me for how many write-ups I did but the write-ups I did that helped them or someone they know. #SAVEBABYKENNY by sending your own little to the account.
Please note that Uncle Praise Fowowe inspired this.
